Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.
We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.
Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:
- International Medical Corps: internationalmedicalcorps.org/emergency-response/war-in-ukraine/
- Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights - Ukraine Urgent Response Fund: urgentactionfund.org
- Polish Humanitarian Action: www.pah.org.pl/en/donate/
- World Central Kitchen: wck.org/relief/activation-chefs-for-ukraine
